A fugitive from Brooklyn who recently visited China is being screened for the coronavirus at a Buffalo detention facility, a report said.

Kevin Qiu, 42, who’s wanted on a warrant from Chester County, Pennsylvania, was busted by customs officers on Wednesday for trying to enter into Buffalo from Canada via the Peace Bridge, according to WIVB.

Qiu admitted to border agents that he recently traveled to China. He was placed in custody and taken to the Erie County Holding Center, where he’s being observed for the virus, the report said.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office said Qiu is not showing any coronavirus symptoms. They assessed him as “medium risk” for the virus.

“The Sheriff’s Office notified the New York State Department of Health and the Erie County Department of Health, and all parties are working to establish protocols, precautions, and protections for jail staff and other inmates,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement to the outlet.

It’s unclear how long Qui will remain at the facility or when he may be extradited to Pennsylvania.
