Local Dispensaries Don’t Hurt Canadian Housing Prices

Many local economies in Canada have been the recipients of “micro-booms” as the result of cannabis legalization there. And, as reported in The GrowthOp, large cannabis producers can be credited with bringing on many of these booms in Eastern Canada, along with a healthy housing market. But more interesting perhaps is that the influx of retail cannabis establishments in Western Canada has also not had the negative effect on property values that some feared.

As detailed in the article, a consumer survey by the real
estate company Re/Max indicated that 65% of Canadians say they would not want
to live close to a cannabis
. But the formidable presence of retail cannabis stores in cities such
as Calgary and Vancouver have not seemed to negatively affect housing values in
those cities.
