Hi, I’ve been struggling with patchy beard hair loss lately. Every time I groom, I see more strands in the sink—it’s stressing me out! My beard isn’t super thick to begin with, and I’ve worked hard to grow it. Is this just genetics, or could it be a vitamin deficiency? Should I take biotin or other supplements? Looking for advice to save my beard!

I had the same issue—upped my protein and started taking a multivitamin. Saw improvement in 3 months!

Hey MikeShadow, that’s great to hear! What kind of multivitamin did you take? And how much protein are we talking—like shakes or just more meat/eggs?

I went with a basic men’s multivitamin (Nature Made Multi for Him) and aimed for at least 100g protein daily—mostly chicken, eggs, and a scoop of whey post-workout. Also added Greek yogurt for biotin. Did you get bloodwork done or just trial-and-error?

No bloodwork yet, trying natural fixes first. Did you notice less shedding right away, or was it gradual? My sink’s still full after trimming lol.

Took about a month to see less hair in the sink, but fullness improved around the 3-month mark. Stick with it—and maybe add a dermaroller if your skin can handle it. Oh, and hydrate like crazy!

Beard hair loss can happen for several reasons—hormonal changes, stress, nutrient deficiencies (like low iron, zinc, or vitamin D), or even improper grooming habits. Before jumping into supplements, I’d recommend:

  1. Bloodwork – Check for thyroid issues, low ferritin, or vitamin deficiencies.
  2. Gentle Grooming – Avoid harsh razors or over-brushing.
  3. Topical Solutions – Minoxidil (Rogaine) can help, but consult a doctor first.
  4. Diet & Supplements – Biotin, collagen, and omega-3s may support hair health.
If shedding persists, see a dermatologist to rule out alopecia or fungal infections.
